PawGuard ("PawGuard," "we," "us," or "our") operates pawguard.pro, an independent pet insurance comparison and referral platform for U.S. pet owners. We help you explore coverage options from multiple insurance carriers — we are not an insurance carrier ourselves. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use our site, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights available to you.
We collect information in a few different ways:
We do not knowingly collect sensitive categories of personal information such as government ID numbers, precise geolocation, or health data about you (as opposed to your pet).
Partner insurance carriers. If you request a personalized quote, we may share relevant information (such as your pet's species, breed, age, and your ZIP code) with our partner insurance carriers so they can generate a quote for you. We may earn a referral commission from these partners — this never affects the price you pay.
Service providers. We share limited information with vendors who help us run the site, such as our hosting provider (Netlify) and, when generating a personalized quote explanation, an AI language service used solely to phrase that explanation in plain language. These vendors are only permitted to use your information to provide services to us.
We do not sell or share your personal information to third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising purposes, and we have not done so in the preceding 12 months. See "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" below for how California law defines and protects this.
Legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.
Cookies are small text files placed on your device that help websites function and, in some cases, help us or third parties understand how the site is used. We group cookies and similar technologies (like local storage or embedded-content identifiers) into four categories:
| Category | Purpose | Requires consent? |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly Necessary | Required for core site functionality, such as submitting forms and basic security. These cannot be switched off. | No — essential to the service |
| Functional | Remember preferences (e.g. menu state) to improve your experience. | Yes, where required by law |
| Analytics | Help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. Not currently active on pawguard.pro. | Yes |
| Marketing | Used by embedded third-party content (such as YouTube videos) or advertising partners to personalize content. We use YouTube's privacy-enhanced embed mode, which limits cookie use unless you press play. | Yes |
Non-essential cookies (Functional, Analytics, and Marketing) will only be set with your consent. We intend to implement a consent management platform ("CMP") that will present these categories to you as a banner when you first visit, let you accept or reject them individually, and let you change your preferences at any time. Until that CMP is live, pawguard.pro does not run analytics or advertising trackers, and third-party embeds (such as YouTube) are configured in their privacy-enhanced mode to minimize cookie use.
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), requires us to tell you the categories of personal information we collect and why. Over the past 12 months, we have collected the following categories:
| Category | Examples | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Identifiers | Name, email address, ZIP code | Generating quotes, waitlist, contact responses |
| Customer records | Contact form submissions | Responding to inquiries |
| Commercial information | Pet details (species, breed, age) provided for quotes | Estimating premiums, sharing with partner carriers if requested |
| Internet or network activity | Pages visited, general technical/browser data | Site security and performance |
We retain each category for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes above or as required by law, after which it is deleted or de-identified. We do not sell personal information as traditionally defined, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal information:
You can exercise any of the rights above by contacting us through our Contact page or by emailing us at the address listed under "Contact us" below. We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests. You may also designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf.
PawGuard does not currently sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. If that ever changes, or if you'd simply like to record a standing opt-out preference with us in advance, you can do so at any time on our dedicated Your Privacy Choices page.
pawguard.pro is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will delete it. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can address it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. We'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and where changes are material, we'll provide additional notice (such as a prominent notice on the site).
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or want to exercise any of your privacy rights, please email us at privacy@pawguard.pro or use our Contact page.
